Bainbridge Island Public Library The Bainbridge Island library is a public/private partnership. Through property tax dollars, Kitsap Regional Library provides staff, books and other materials, technical and administrative support. The building and grounds are owned by the people of Bainbridge Island and managed by a non-profit organization, Bainbridge Public Library and its volunteer Board of Directors. Maintenance and operation of the grounds and facility are funded solely by private donations. Bainbridge Public Library is a branch of Kitsap Regional Library. It is open seven days a week for a total of 58 hours per week. In addition to housing an extensive collection of books, audio books, DVD's, newspapers and magazines, the facility includes a large meeting room and computer and study space. The library greets approximately 340,000 visitors each year and circulates almost 500,000 items annually. Bainbridge Branch library is accessible 24 hours per day from homes and businesses and library users can take advantage of the facility's wireless connection. A special collection and study area for Young Adults is available for teens on the upper floor. The lower floor is dedicated to children's library services including a full-time Children's librarian, separate computer space and a story time room. The library offers regular story time programs, a quarterly evening Storytelling event for all ages and special summertime activities for school-age children.
