Movies

There are two movie theatre facilities on Bainbridge Island. The largest building is a relatively new 5-plex-movie house built in 1998 located in downtown. This new complex turned the original Lynwood Theatre into The Historic Lynwood Theatre that features an alternative movie-going experience in an intimate single-screen setting.

The Historic Lynwood Theatre has been entertaining audiences since 1936 and was Bainbridge Island's first "talkie" movie theater. They now feature stimulating specialty films such as foreign films, documentaries, independent films and the classics. The Lynwood Theatre is one of the few single screen theaters still in operation.

Want a fun way to meet new people? A film discussion group meets once a month to talk about one of Lynwood's films that are more provocative. The group meets at a local Island restaurant on the first Tuesday of the month … all are welcome. Contact information provided on their Website.

And don't let me forget to tell you that there is real butter on freshly made popcorn and a brief, live introduction to each evening's film.
